Cancellation of August’s Community Development/Planning Committee Meeting

Lewisburg Borough has cancelled their August Community Development/Planning Committee meeting. The Committee had anticipated discussing a new version of the draft Non-Discrimination Ordinance this month. However, the size of the anticipated crowd at the Committee meeting required the Borough to find an alternate location for this meeting. That alternate location also appeared too small to accommodate the crowd expected to attend. As such, a new location for the meeting was secured, but the new facility was not available for the normal Community Development/Planning Committee meeting date and time. An alternate day and time was selected for the Committee meeting, but unfortunately the selected evening conflicted with a previously scheduled event at a nearby organization. That organization’s leadership was concerned that attendees at the Committee meeting would fill all available parking spaces in the area preventing their members from attending their organization’s event. In addition, some members of the organization also wanted to attend the Committee meeting to participate in the Non-Discrimination Ordinance discussion. Accordingly, the Committee meeting has been cancelled and the Borough will likely schedule a special Community Development/Planning Committee meeting later in August or in September to discuss the draft Non-Discrimination Ordinance. Once a date, time, and location is finalized, it will be announced on the Borough’s Facebook page and the Borough’s website.
